Termites Are Destroying Melbourne Homes Right Now, Silently.

Professional termite inspections and treatment across all of Melbourne. Licensed specialists. Thermal imaging. Chemical barriers and baiting systems.

The only protection is a professional inspection and the right treatment before they find your home, or as soon as they do.

Termites cause more structural damage to Australian homes than fires, floods, and storms combined and they do it completely silently, hidden inside your walls and under your floors, for months or years before you notice a single sign. By the time you see damage, the colony has already been there a long time.

Why Termites Are the Most Dangerous Pest in Australia

Termites are not just another pest. They are a structural threat to your home and most homeowners insurance policies in Australia do not cover termite damage.

Here's what makes them so difficult:

They work in silence. A termite colony can be active inside your walls, roof void, subfloor, and timber framing for 12 months or more before any visible sign appears. By the time you notice a hollow-sounding floor or a bubbling paint patch, the structural damage is already significant.

They never stop. A mature termite colony contains up to one million individuals working 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. They don't sleep. They don't stop feeding. Every day without protection is a day the colony is potentially growing closer to your home.

Melbourne's conditions are ideal for them. Subterranean termites — the most destructive species — thrive in Melbourne's climate. Warm summers, moisture-retaining clay soils, and the abundance of timber-framed housing across Melbourne's suburbs make this city one of Australia's highest-risk termite zones.

Your home insurance won't cover the bill. Unlike storm or fire damage, termite damage is almost universally excluded from standard Australian home and contents insurance policies. The average termite repair bill in Australia ranges from $10,000 to $70,000. An annual inspection costs a fraction of that.

The Termites Most Common in Melbourne:

🪲 Coptotermes Species- The Most Destructive The most common and most damaging termite in Melbourne. Subterranean, meaning they nest in the soil and travel underground to timber sources. They can enter your home through cracks in the slab, expansion joints, weep holes, and areas where timber contacts soil. They hollow out timber from the inside, leaving only a thin outer shell — which is why damage is invisible until it's severe.

🪲 Nasutitermes Species- Common in Melbourne's outer and semi-rural suburbs. Typically attack dead timber first — fence posts, tree stumps, garden sleepers — before moving into structural timber. Easier to detect earlier due to visible mud leads and surface workings.

🪲 Schedorhinotermes Species- Highly destructive, often found in older Melbourne homes with ageing timber. They produce two castes of workers which makes them harder to eliminate with standard baiting — specialist treatment is required.

What's Included in Every Termite Inspection

Do not wait for obvious damage to appear. Call us immediately if you notice any of the following:

  • Hollow-sounding timber- tap on skirting boards, door frames, and floorboards. A hollow sound where timber should be solid is a primary warning sign

  • Mud leads or mud tubes- thin brown tunnels running along walls, foundations, or pipes. These are termite highways built to protect them from light and air as they travel

  • Bubbling or blistering paint- termites hollow out timber just beneath painted surfaces, causing the paint to bubble or blister as the timber is consumed

  • Tight-fitting doors and windows- termite damage causes timber to warp, making doors and windows suddenly harder to open or close

  • Discarded wings- termites swarm during spring and summer. Finding small wings near windows, door frames, or vents indicates a swarm has occurred nearby

  • Visible frass- small piles of what looks like sawdust or coffee grounds near timber are termite droppings, called frass

  • Sagging floors or ceilings-  structural timber that has been significantly damaged begins to flex and sag under load

If you see any of these signs-  call us today. Do not disturb suspected termite workings yourself. Disturbing an active colony can cause them to abandon the area and relocate deeper into your home, making treatment significantly harder.
